Tata Motors, the South-Asia's leading automobile manufacturer, launched its all new generation Indigo Manza saloon in Cape Town, South Africa on September 14, 2012. The new Indigo Manza has been developed on a new platform by the company and features completely new exterior and interior attributes.

Expressing his delight with the launch of the new car in South Africa, Johnny Oommen, Head, International Business, Passenger Cars, Tata Motors, said, “After seeing wide acceptance, across various countries, we are proud to offer the Tata Indigo Manza, a modern, contemporary sedan to the South African market. We hope to see it become the best-seller in this market as well.”

The latest product from the stables of Tata Motors, Indigo Manza seems to have grown a little big in its interior and exterior dimensions as the new car spreads 4.4 metre in length and 1.7 metre in breadth, while its wheel base measures 2.52 metre. Among the newly launched car's many catchy features, its front wraparound three barrelled headlamps score the maximum points and give the Indigo Manza sedan an aggressive feline look. The car's huge 15” alloy wheels are cleverly shielded by its flaring arches and render an imposing stance to its appearance. Indigo Manza also boasts of new rear monolithic angular shaped tail lamps that will ensure the car to stand out among its contemporaries. Tata Motors has made sure that the car delivers to every travel requirement by entailing it with 460 litre of trunk capacity, which can prove really helpful during weekend excursion trips and small getaways.

Coming to the comfort and convenience quotient, the Tata Indigo Manza ticks all the boxes and beats every other car in the category. It seems that Tata Motors has very meticulously designed and engineered the car, which caters to every need of its driver and passengers. The capacious right inclination rear seats with a centre armrest ensure that the rear-seated passengers can recline and spread their legs freely, just like the comfort of their living rooms. The high quality two toned fabrics look nice while the interior cabin space of the car radiates the refined amalgamation of luxury and technology. To ensure optimum driving posture for the driver, the Indigo Manza sedan is provided with a tilt adjustable power steering and a height adjustable driver seat along with electronically adjustable and regulated Outer Rear View Mirrors (ORVM). Information about the fuel consumption and ambient temperature are displayed on the central console of the Driver Information System. Further to add-on to the stylish feel of the car, a sporty instrument panel has been mounted on the soft-feel dashboard, providing extra points to the vehicle in terms of designing. To mesmerise the music loving car enthusiasts, a 2 DIN Music System compatible with Bluetooth connectivity via Blue5 and a USB port has been installed in the car, which is not available even in the premium models of the segment. Additionally, to ensure safety and easement in comfortable driving, the Indigo Manza sedan features steering mounted audio controls of the car music system.

Tata Motors has given special consideration to the safety attributes of the Indigo Manza sedan and the car comes trimmed with a collapsible steering column, Dual Frontal Airbags and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) among others. Interestingly, the new sedan has an improvised tachometer that uses a Critical Rev Indicator needle, which turns red when the engine crosses a critical RPM. Among other attributes, the engine immobilizer and central locking features provide enhanced security of the vehicle and its inhabitants.

The internationally acclaimed 90 hp / 66 KW Safire Petrol engine (sourced from Fiat) has been incorporated under the hood of the Tata Indigo Manza saloon, which underlines the Indian auto maker's dedication towards refinement in the driving performance of the car. A Continuous Variable Cam Phaser has been utilised by the engineers for the configuration of petrol power-mills of Indigo Manza, which ensure adjustment in valve timings and periods between power delivery. Further, the electronically controlled Intelligent Port Resizer (IPR) function installed in the Safire engine distributes an optimum balance of power and economy.

The Quadrajet diesel engine used in the Indigo Manza uses a Variable Geometry Turbocharger that delivers hassle free engine performance while the aluminium bedplate and superior insulation reduces NVH levels and ensure better power to weight ratio. Additionally, the Drive by Wire technology used in the car removes all 'throttle lag', thereby delivering a swifter and smoother response.

Reportedly, the Tata Indigo Manza is launched with only petrol engine option and its diesel model is expected to be launched later in the South African car market. ARAI, the automotive research body of India, has certified the Indigo Manza to deliver a fuel efficiency of 14.5 km per litre.

The latest offering from stables of Tata Motors is available with options of factory warranty of three years or 100,000 km, standard three years or unlimited km Roadside Assistance and four years or 100,000 km service plan. The Indigo Manza sedan is available with standard data dot technology and comes with an option of five different colours. Further, the car will be marketed through 45 dealerships spread across South Africa.

The Indigo Manza sedan fetches a retail price at ZAR 119,995 (Rs. 7.93 lacs approximately) for its base model INI, while its top-end model IGNIS comes with a price tag of ZAR 134,995 (Rs. 8.9 lacs approximately).
