      Tata Motors gets 928 buses order under JNNURM Scheme

      Tata Motors has been a key player in the Indian automotive segment. In the passenger car market, Tata Motors has recently made its presence felt with the Zest sedan. This time around the company has reportedly bagged an order for 928 units of Marcopolo buses for the Southern state transport authorities. The buses have reportedly received CCTV cameras that shall capture passenger movement for security purpose. The buses have been designed with wider passage-way to allow free movement and wider window panes for better visibility. Based on safe and convenience philosophy, the entry and exit door has been lowered for easy movement.

      The 928 Tata Marcopolo built buses shall be distributed among various states like 487 units for Karnataka (Karnataka State Road Transport Corporation), 40 units for Puducherry (Pondicherry Road Transport Corporation), 97 from Kerala (Kerala State Road Transport Corporation) and about 304 from North East Karnataka region (North Eastern Karnataka Road Transport Corporation). The buses are stated to be part of 2700 orders that is bagged by Tata Motors under the “Urban” buses JNNURM-II scheme. As for safety, these buses shall be well networked with a central control room server. Owing to this technology, the operator can monitor details like road position, number of trips and maintenance schedule via real-time health monitor.
