      Tata Motors geared up to launch the Safari Storme in July

      Good news for SUV lovers, Tata Safari Storme will make its entry in the Indian market in the month of July. The Safari Storme has been unveiled by Tata Motors at the 2012 Delhi Auto Expo, and since then it has become one of the of the highly awaited models of India. On the occasion, Mr. P.M. Telang, Managing Director - India Operations, said, "With the Safari Storme, the iconic Safari becomes a contemporary SUV suited to the desires of today's SUV lovers. The Ultra range and the LPT 3723 will create new segments and generate higher incomes for their owners. As importantly, we are displaying our progress with alternate fuel technologies towards a more comprehensive portfolio for the future."

      Exterior of the new generation Tata Safari Storme is complemented by new projector headlamps, a new front grill and 'power bulge' on the bonnet. The rear section gets stylish tailgate, chrome-tipped twin exhausts and aerodynamic spoilers. Under the rear, a spare tyre is placed for emergency. Egronomical side footsteps, newly designed roof-rails and cladding make the side view unique.

      Interior of Safari Storme is quite refined due to the incorporation of beige seats, chrome highlighted gear knob, leather-wrapped steering wheel, door trims and wood-accented dashboard. Other highlights of the interior are chrome-lined speaker grills and inside door handles including a new instrument cluster. Front seats with lumber support have fore and aft adjustment. For maximum comfort, roof-mounted blower and dual AC are provided in the SUV.

      The Safari Storme will be loaded with a 2.2L 16-valve common rail (DiCOR) engine capable of generating output of 138 hp and 320 Nm torque. A 5-speed manual transmission is provided for easy shift of gears. Shifting from 2WD to 4WD becomes easy even on the move due to Electronic shift-on-the-fly (ESOF). Other features, which will help it face road challenges, include 5.4 metres turning radius, electrically operated ORVMs, 200 mm ground clearance and a reverse parking system.

      As far as safety is concerned, the car will be loaded with a 4-channel ABS with EBD, a new rack-and-pinion steering system, disc brakes on all wheels and dual SRS airbags. It also has rigid ladder frame construction, an auto engine immobilizer, side intrusion beams, crumple zones and collapsible steering column.

      As per reports, the SUV may be launched in the first half of July. The company may sell it alongside with the present Safari. No exact details have been provided regarding the price of this vehicle but it is expected that Safari Storme will be priced in between Rs. 9 lacs to Rs. 12 lacs.
