Tata Motors Full Throttle, the off-road racing team comprising 2 models each of Tata Safari, Tata Xenon and Tata Sumo Grande, has won the Eastern Mountain Safari 2011. The winning car, a Tata Sumo Grande, was driven by Mr. Aditya Anthony and Mr. Mohammed Musthafa, who were awarded a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 5 lacs for this feat. The Tata Sumo Grande braved through the Eastern Hills, traversing through all challenges thrown at it, ranging from steep and rocky hills to dense forests towards Kurseong and Kalimpong.

The Eastern Mountain Safari 2011 was held by Ramakrishna Race Performance Management Pvt. Ltd. (RRPM), who split the event into two legs, spread over November 10 and 11, 2011. The challenging route chosen by the organising body was 400 km long, with the strenuous rally being regulated by passage controls. Moreover, disclosed time controls, such as secret time control, self-time controls and GPS time controls, were also used throughout the rally.

This was another feather in the team's cap, which tasted success in the 2011 Raid De Himalaya, Desert Storm 2011 and the Dakshin Dare 2011 Rally. Tata's cars have always been favoured by independent motor sports drivers, who are known to have raced in Tata Safari and the Tata Xenon XT (a 4x4 lifestyle pickup). Earlier, the company had participated in various international rallies, including London – Cape Town rally (1998), ASEAN rally (2004) and the SAARC rally (2007), with the iconic Tata Safari.

Tata Motors has set up Tata Motors Full Throttle in an endeavour to consolidate its position as a reputed name in the world of motor sports. With this exclusive team, the company also makes continual efforts to organise efforts related to the motor sports arena, such as development and testing.
