The upcoming Tata Kite 5 sedan was spied on test in Pune recently. The test mule shows off the compact sedan's new features despite being clad in a disguised avatar.
The vehicle spotted taking rounds was the top-end version of the Kite 5 sedan and featured all the bells and whistles that the car is expected to get. Projector headlamps and fog lamps were seen on the car that has a fastback kind of appearance. The cabin had an all-black interior and was equipped with a five-inch touch screen infotainment system. It also boasts of automatic climate control which is missing on the Tata Bolt or Zest, and for that matter, even some competitors.
The upcoming Tata Kite 5 sedan will be powered by the same engine line-up from the Tiago. The petrol version will get the 1.2-litre Revotron three-cylinder all-aluminium petrol engine, while the oil-burner will employ the 1.05-litre Revotorq three-cylinder diesel unit. Transmission options will include a five-speed manual gearbox and there’s a possibility of a five-speed automated manual gearbox to be offered during the launch.
The Tata Kite 5 compact sedan is expected to launch in the first half of 2017. Tata has not announced a launch date yet, but we can expect it to be launched post the introduction of the upcoming Hexa SUV. The much-awaited compact sedan is expected to be priced competitively giving a tough fight to the present compact sedans in the Indian market.
