      Tata Hunts for New Land for its Small Car Project

      Tata officials including Managing Director, Mr. Ravi Kant are hunting for new land for its small car project. Ravi Kant has already held discussions with Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh and Karnataka on Sunday to evaluate their proposals. “We came to see what the State Government was willing to offer,” said Mr RAvi Kant after a meeting Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh.

      Tata Motors officials visited Sitaramapuram in Andhra Pradesh to inspect the 1100 acre land as well as land available in Dharwad in Karnataka. Principal Secretary of state of Karnataka along with Deputy Commissioner of Dharwad and Special Land Acquisition Deputy Commissioner is putting together a report on the visit by Tata officials. They had earlier briefed the company officials about the benefits of setting up Tata plant in Dharwad which has young skilled labour force, employable educated youth owing to universities in the area. Dharwad is also in close proximity to the Port cities of Goa and Karwar with stable political environment.

      Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Group, earlier announced that they will be pulling out of the State of West Bengal owing to the hostile environment in Singur, where the plant is located. Residents and local CPI (M) minister had called for one day “Bandh” in protest of the announcement.
