Tata has announced that the Hexa will be offered with 4WD, an automatic gearbox and driving modes. The flagship Hexa is expected to be launched soon and the announcement comes as a precursor to the much awaited launch.

The four driving modes offered are Auto, Comfort, Dynamic and Rough Road. The driving modes work in conjunction with the electronic stability program and the engine management system to identify the driving requirements in Auto mode. In comfort, the focus of gear shifts and power delivery is oriented for a comfortable experience while Dynamic mode offers sporty driving with maximum power output. The Rough Road mode helps finding better grip and traction in the tricky off-road conditions.

Driving modes, most probably, will be offered only with the all-wheel-drive automatic transmission variants. In terms of competition, the XUV gets all-wheel-drive while the Innova is offered only with 2WD.

The Hexa is based on the existing Aria platform and will pose as a serious competition to the XUV500 and the Innova amongst the premium people movers. To be offered with the 2.2-litre Varicor 400 engine, the Hexa will get a six-speed manual gearbox and also a torque converter automatic gearbox – a first amongst Tata SUVs. It has now been confirmed that the Hexa will also get driving modes to offer a more personalised driving experience according to the different terrains.
