Tata Motors and Fiat are eyeing the super-luxury market this time! Both the companies are in talks with each other for a joint venture in India to market super-luxury cars in India. According Ratan Tata, in an interview given to the Italian Daily Newspaper La Tampa, Tata Motors and Fiat are studying the feasibility of such a project in India “We have various projects, to take the Nano to Latin America together, to share platforms for new cars, we have projects for (Fiat lorry unit) Iveco and marketing Ferraris and Maseratis, in India,” Mr Tata said. “We are talking about a lot of things.”
Currently Fiat controls both the major brands, Maserati and Ferrari and markets them across the world. Ratan Tata, Chairman, Tata Group is also on the Fiat Board. Moreover, Tata Motors already marks its presence in the luxury brand market with its prestigious brands Jaguar and Land Rover. Fiat marks a strong presence in Latin America and Italy and Brazil are Fiat’s two biggest markets. Fiat will also market Tata Motors’ ultra-cheap car, Nano in overseas market.
