After rolling out its first new product for this year, Mumbai based auto maker, Tata Motors is now preparing to launch Tata Bolt in India. Exhibited alongside Zest at the 2014 Auto Expo held earlier this year, the new Bolt is expected to be launched in India during the festive season. Rumours are doing the rounds that just like its elder sibling Zest, Bolt could also get an AMT gearbox on its diesel variant. However there is yet no official confirmation on the same but it is being expected that Bolt diesel could be offered in AMT variant. Other than Zest, the only vehicle in India that comes with AMT tranny is Maruti’s Celerio hatchback. Response for the AMT equipped vehicles in domestic market has been overwhelming, hence possibility of Tata proffering diesel AMT variant in Bolt is quite high.

Underpinning the X1 platform, Tata Bolt is bestowed with the new design language. In the front the hatchback will get a honeycomb grille in the front complemented by newly designed head lights and new bumper. Rear is equipped with chic LED head lights and a bold chrome grille. Inside the cabin, the hatchback will boast of an electric power steering, contemporary centre console, infotainment system a new audio system that features MapMyIndia, GPS, voice commands and touch screen.

Under the bonnet will be a 1.2 litre Revotron petrol engine powering the petrol range. This is the same engine that debuted with Zest. The engine is capable of churning out a maximum power output of 84 Bhp at 5000 RPM along with top torque of 140 Nm between 1750-3500 RPM. As for the diesel range, power will come from Fiat’s renowned 1.3 litre Multijet engine. A five-speed manual transmission will offered on both the engines.
