Tata Motors has postponed the launch of the Altroz premium hatchback. The model was expected to be launched in Q4 of 2019, but now, the launch has been rescheduled and could take place in early 2020.
Tata Motors had initially planned to launch the Altro with BS-IV compliant engines followed by BS-VI compliant units, once the new norms come into effect. As the move to launch the car with BS-IV engines would require high inventory management, the company came to a decision to Go ahead directly with BS-VI engines.
Feature wise, the upcoming Tata Altroz is expected to come equipped with a floating touchscreen infotainment system with smartphone connectivity, drive modes, automatic climate control, new instrument cluster shared with the Harrier and a reverse camera. Upon launch, the Tata Altroz will take on the likes of the Hyundai Elite i20, Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Volkswagen Polo and the Toyota Glanza.
Powertrain options on the new Tata Altroz will include a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated engine, 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine and a 1.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine. The latter will be mated to a six-speed manual transmission while the petrol motors will be paired to a five-speed manual gearbox.
