TAMO (Tata Motors) showcased its most ambitious concept, the Racemo at the 2018 Auto Expo event in India. The performance focused car from Tata Motors was last seen at the 2017 Geneva Motor Show. The vehicle has been built on a wholly new modular platform called MOFlex MMS. The new platform might spawn on to the company’s future hatchbacks, sedans and SUVs.

Tata Racemo is powered by a 1.2-litre Revotron four-cylinder turbocharged petrol engine which generates about 188bhp of power. Back in October 2017, the mid-engined Racemo earned a Gold category German Design Award for International Excellence for its ‘Exceptional Product Design’. Power is delivered to the rear wheels via an advanced automated 6-speed transmission (AMT) using paddle shifters on the steering wheel. The company claims that the vehicle is capable of sprinting from 0-100kmph in under six seconds. The company will also introduce a standard version of the Racemo.

TAMO also showcased the third variant, a pure electric version of the Racemo, called the Racemo+ EV. The EV version of the Racemo measures 3,985mm in length, 1,824mm in width and 1,208mm in height. It is 150mm longer and 14mm wider than the regular Racemo. The two-seat sports coupe is powered by a 150kW electric motor that operates at a peak voltage of 400V. The company claims that the Racemo has a maximum speed of 200km/h and a driving range of 350km.
