Expected to launch in Europe in early 2016, the Suzuki YRA (Maruti Suzuki YRA) has been spied testing in France. Though, it will be first launched in India by the end of 2015. The Maruti Suzuki YRA that will take on the Honda Jazz, Hyundai Elite i20 and Volkswagen Polo, will be sold via Maruti’s premium NEXA dealerships.
For the European market, the Suzuki YRA will be available with a 1.0-litre, 3-cylinder direct-injection ‘Boosterjet’ engine that is claimed to deliver better fuel efficiency. An SHVS mild hybrid system will also be on offer. Whereas, the India-spec model will be offered with the choice of two engine options – a 1.25-litre K-Series petrol and a 1.3-litre DDiS diesel. The former produces a maximum power of 91bhp with 118Nm. A 5-speed manual transmission will come as standard, while the CVT will be available only on the petrol models.
The production version of the Maruti Suzuki YRA will share resemblance with the Suzuki iK-2 concept, which was unveiled at the 2015 Geneva Motor Show. The hatchback will feature a V-shaped grille, swept-back headlamps, bold shoulder creases, 16-inch multi-spoke alloy wheels, bootlid with hidden reverse camera, a rear spoiler and a high-mounted brake light. Features on offer could be Maruti’s SmartPlay touchscreen infotainment display, centre console with silver highlights and vertical HVAC vents, 2-DIN audio system, three-spoke steering wheel with mounted audio and cruise control, power folding mirrors, cruise control, dual airbags, ABS, EBD, etc.
The Maruti Suzuki YRA is expected to be priced within the range of Rs. 5.5 lakh – Rs. 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
