Suzuki has unveiled the Europe bound Celerio hatchback at the on-going Geneva Motor Show 2014. The Europe bound Celerio will be inducted as ‘A+ Compact’ car in the European markets by the end of 2014 and will lock horns with other cars in its segment like Hyundai i10, Fiat Panda and Skdoa Citigo in the A+ compact car segment.

Europe bound Celerio is equipped with the Suzuki’s ‘K10C’ mill which is basically and alter ego of the 1.0 litre, three pot powertrain powering the India bound Celerio. The newly developed motor will come with a start-stop system resulting in enhanced fuel economy. It also promises a maximum power output of 70 Bhp and a top torque of 90 Nm.

The Indian version of Celerio that was launched in India at the 2014 Auto Expo last month is being offered in manual and automated manual transmissions. The hatchback was launched at a competitive price of Rs 3.90 lakh which was further reduced to Rs 3.76 lakh due to the excise duty cuts announced in the interim budget (Price mentioned are ex-showroom Delhi). Garnering a good response especially for the automated version, Celerio seems to pose a strong threat to other cars in its segment in India. Another reason for the rising popularity of AMT version could be the enhanced fuel economy of 23.1 kmpl which is 5% more than the manual transmission model. Celerio is available in petrol version only with three manual transmission trims and two AMT trims.
