A hatchback bound to be launched in India soon; it has been named Wagon R GS with Auto Gear Shift for Indonesia. In recent times, automated transmission versions of cars have been gaining prominence all around the world and the trend is slowly entering India as well. Maruti Suzuki already has a couple of hatchbacks with automatic versions in the Indian market, namely Celerio and Alto K10. Now, the company may introduce this automatic mechanism in Wagon R Stingray which can prove to be a breakthrough launch for the firm.

Putting facts into perspective, automatic variants of Maruti Suzuki Celerio and Alto K10 had long waiting periods following their launches and analysts predict the same happening for Wagon R Stingray. In fact, Wagon R is one of Maruti Suzuki’s ace models and an automatic version of it could be a huge success in India. Some reports claim that this car will come with a price Rs. 30,000-40,000 above the manual version. The current price range of Maruti Suzuki Wagon R Stingray is from Rs. 4.2 lakh to Rs. 4.8 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi). Though nothing has been confirmed, Wagon R AMT is expected to hit the Indian market by end of 2015.
