Suzuki Motor Corporation, the parent firm of the country’s largest passenger car maker Maruti Suzuki, has introduced a new automatic variant of its Ertiga in the Indonesian auto market. Earlier this year, the company had also launched the Ertiga facelift in Indonesia. At present, Maruti Suzuki Ertiga is offered with manual gearbox and the company could possibly be looking at bringing its automatic version in the Indian auto market.

As per reports, Ertiga models sold in the Indonesian auto market are imported from India as Completely Knocked Down (CKD) kits, The CKD kits of Ertiga are then assembled at the Suzuki Motor Corp’s manufacturing facility in Jakarta. The newly launched automatic trim of the Multi Purpose Vehicle (MPV) incorporates a 5-speed automatic transmission gearbox. Further, the Indonesia-spec Suzuki Ertiga is powered by the same 1.4 litre K-Series KB14 powertrain that is found in its Indian version. This 1.4 litre KB14 petrol engine is rated with an impressive peak output power and torque outputs of 94 bhp and 130 Nm, respectively.

There are two versions of automatic Ertiga introduced in the Indonesian auto market. The on road price of base trim of the MPV is priced at 173.8 million Rupiah (around Rs. 6.6 lakh) and the other model carries a retail value of 185.8 million Rupiah (around Rs. 10.26 lakh). The company is yet to divulge nay information regarding launch of the automatic Ertiga in the Indian market.

At present, Ertiga remains Maruti Suzuki’s best selling products in the country and is selling like hot cakes in the MPV segment. The other prominent names in this class of vehicles are Mahindra Xylo and Nissan Evalia. Because its MPV is already in big demand and recording impressive sales in the domestic market, Maruti Suzuki seems to be giving not much attention to its automatic version. However, nothing can be ruled out of picture and the company could introduce Ertiga automatic in the Indian market, depending upon the situation and need of the hour.
