      Suzuki iM-4 compact SUV and iK-2 hatchback unveiled in Shanghai

      Suzuki, the Japanese automaker, has unveiled the iM-4 mini SUV concept and iK-2 premium hatchback concept at the 2015 Auto Shanghai. While the iM-4 previews the YBA compact SUV, the iK-2 concept previews the YRA premium hatchback which is scheduled to be launched by mid-2015.

      The iM-4 concept is based on an all-new platform which will underpin more future Suzuki products. The concept is powered by a 1.2L DUALJET engine that promises good fuel economy and high performance. It also gets an all-wheel drive system, while the brake energy recuperation system enhances the overall fuel efficiency. Based on "Shape of Inspiration" theme, the iM-4 SUV features a single unit grille, headlamp graphic and conventional wraparound bumper. It is equipped with short overhangs, high ground clearance, etc. At the rear, the SUV has trapezoidal tail lamps with C-shaped elements. Dimensionally, the SUV is 3693mm long, 1709mm wide and 1566mm tall, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2438mm.

      On the other hand, the Suzuki iK-2 premium hatch is powered by an all-new 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine that will power several future Suzuki cars. This BOOSTERJET engine is basically a new direct-injection turbocharged petrol engine that offers high performance and fuel economy. The Suzuki iK-2 is equipped with a stylish front fascia with newly styled Suzuki grille, flanked by sleek, sweptback headlamps. The vehicle gets pronounced creases, sloping roofline, steeply raked windscreen, and large wheel arches. This hatchback measures 4023mm in length, 1920mm in width, 1450mm in height, and it comes with a large wheelbase of 2520mm.
