      Suzuki Gixxer SF bookings open; launch on April 7

      Suzuki Motorcycle, the Japanese two-wheeler maker, will launch the fully-faired Suzuki Gixxer SF in the Indian two-wheeler market on April 7, 2015. Ahead of its launch, dealers have started taking pre-orders for the bike for a token amount of Rs. 5,000. The company has also started dispatching the bike units to dealerships.

      Based on the naked 150cc Gixxer, the Gixxer SF is a full-faired model that will rival against the likes of 150cc Yamaha YZF-R15. The bike shares most of its styling and components with the naked version. Features like fuel tank, side panels, grab rails and tail piece has been borrowed from the naked Gixxer. The only difference between the two models is the new fairing. The instrument cluster comprises of trip meter, adjustable shift light, a clock and a gear indicator.

      The Suzuki Gixxer SF is powered by the same air-cooled, 155cc, single cylinder engine that also powers the naked sibling. This engine is capable of producing 14.8PS of power and 14Nm of torque. It is expected that the engine will be tuned to attain higher speed and better performance & efficiency.

      The suspension mechanism comprises of telescopic forks upfront and monoshock at the rear. The Gixxer SF is likely to be priced around Rs. 10,000 more than the standard variant, which is priced at Rs. 73,000. If reports are to be believed, the bike will be offered in five shades including Metallic Triton Bllue, Candy Red, Glass Sparkle Black, Pearl Mirage White and Metallic Grey.
