      Sumit Sawhney spearheads Executive Director, Marketing & Sales department of Renault India

      Renault India Pvt Ltd, which is the fully owned subsidiary of Renault s.a.s on October 18, 2012 announced, that it has appointed Sumit Sawhney to lead its marketing and sales activities in the country. Sawhney is an automotive professional who has devoted many years in the Indian auto market. Having successfully launched five vehicles for the Indian market in just 16 months, the move will further strengthen Renault India's attempt to make a significant position for itself in the country.

      From October 18, 2012, Sawhey, with 17 years of experience in automotive industry, has joined Renault India as Executive Director, Marketing & Sales. Prior to joining Renault India, Sawhey has been leading the sales, marketing and after sales activities in the previous company. In his 17 year career, he has worked at different levels in different fields. Sawhey will take charge from November 1st 2012 and will be based in Chennai, while working with Renault India. He would report to Mr. Marc Nassif, MD Renault India Pvt Ltd.

      With rapidly increasing sales volumes and growing dealer network that will reach more than 100 outlets by the end of 2012, Renault top management decided to go for a local professional who would lead Renault marketing & sales division in India.

      Talking about it on the occasion, Mr. Marc Nassif, MD, Renault India Pvt. Ltd said “Mr. Curran has been instrumental in setting Renault India on a growth trajectory and we fully appreciate his contribution to the company and we wish him the very best for his next assignment. At the same time we welcome Mr. Sawhney in to the Renault family and we are confident that with his vast experience and understanding of the dynamics of the Indian automobile industry he will ensure that Renault India is on the right path to grow rapidly. It is time for Renault to localize not only products (which it has rapidly done) but also the talent pool for human resources.”

      Len Curran, who joined Renault India in 2010, would be relocated within Renault group once he has completed his assignments in India. He was earlier responsible for Sales & Marketing activities of Renault India.

      The company managed to successfully launch five products under the leadership of Curran and also started creating quality dealership facilities. Curran has a good experience of the company's processes in the country and was instrumental in setting up the standards and processes in India. He also ensured that the future customers of Renault have access to world class facilities.

      Curran will hand over his portfolio to Sawhey on November 1st 2012; however, he will continue to be in service of Renault India till early 2013 before stepping into new role within the Renault group.

      Renault presently sells five models in the country, namely - the Fluence, the premium sedan, Koleos SUV, Pulse – the premium compact, the popular Duster SUV and the mid size sedan-the Scala.
