Mahindra owned Ssangyong that unveiled the X100 compact SUV concept across the world on different platform is now gearing up to launch the production version of the SUV in select international markets. Named as the Tivoli (named after the Italian town), the compact SUV will be the cheapest vehicle from the Korean company.

At the 2014 Paris Motor Show, the company previewed the near production model as XIV-Air and XIV-Adventure. Now, the company has officially revealed the sketches of the car that show how the production spec X100 compact SUV will look like. Under the bonnet, the Tivoli would get the new 1.6-litre petrol and diesel units. It will not be a sub-compact SUV and will be slightly longer than 4 meters in length.

It is still unclear whether the Tivoli compact SUV would come to India or not. With the growing demand for sub-compact and compact sports utility vehicles, we expect that the Ssanyong compact SUV would make its way to the Indian car market. Currently, Rexton is the only Ssangyong available in the Indian car market. Its parent company, Mahindra is also contemplating two sub-4 metre SUVs for the market in 2015. We expect that the Tivoli SUV would come to India and will rival against Renault Duster, Maruti Suzuki SX4 S-Cross, Hyundai ix25, Mahindra Scorpio and Nissan Terrano.
