With its 2012 Rexton, the auto maker is looking ahead to take on the likes of Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, Toyota Fortuner and the Ford Endeavour. Rexton happens to be the first model from the product portfolio of SsangYong Motors in India after M&M acquired the former in March 2011. Prior to India, the model has been already introduced in 66 countries, including Korea, Russia and Europe, and has received a good response from the buyers there.

Considering the technical specifications of the model, the recently introduced model features a standard 2 litre diesel engine, which churns out a peak power of 153 bhp with a highest torque of 360 Nm. The automatic model boasts of a five speed automatic transmission system, whereas the base model features a five speed manual gearbox.

Rexton has been provided with a new design, which will surely support it to create dominance in the premium SUV segment of the Indian auto industry. The model features a complete new front fascia with brilliantly designed bumpers, grille, side aprons, headlamps, fog lamps and turn indicators on the outside rear view mirrors.

Reportedly, M&M will produce its Rexton SUV at Chakan plant, near Pune, which will help it to keep the model’s price competitive. The auto maker has pined high hopes with its new launch as the company has never introduced such high range vehicle in the Indian auto market.
