Mahindra has issued a recall of its flagship SUV, the Ssangyong Rexton due to an issue related to its drivetrain. While the exact number of cars affected has not been declared, cars manufactured till September 2014 have been affected by the issue.
There is a possibility of loss of torque in the rear driveshaft of the Ssangyong Rexton. The cause has not been mentioned but might be due to slippage or usage of sub-standard material for components. Mahindra will individually contact its customers to convey if their cars are affected.
Mahindra calls it ‘proactive inspection’ exercise which will be carried out free and any replacements required after the inspection will also be done free of cost. The Ssangyong Rexton is the largest SUV in the Mahindra portfolio and is priced between Rs 21 lakh to Rs 25 lakh (ex-showroom, Delhi)
