Ssangyong Motor, the South Korean auto maker, which is now part of the US$ 15.9 billion Mahindra Group on Monday, December 3,2012 announced that the company has recorded a sales figure of 11,948 vehicles in November 2012. The company reached this sales figure with 4,404 units in domestic sales and 7,544 units in exports, which also include CKD.
Despite a slow global economy, Ssangyong has achieved a sales figure of more than 10,000 vehicles for three consecutive months. The sales in November 2012 is 6.6 per cent more than that of October this year and 33.2 per cent higher than November 2011.
The increase in sales figure was a result of diversification of overseas markets along with refreshed models introduced by the company, which reflected various customer needs. This was possible because of higher demands of the Korando C model with manual transmission gearbox in the domestic market and exports of the petrol powered Korando C to China.
Lee Yoo-il, CEO of Ssangyong Motor, said, “The company’s sales recorded an increase in both domestic sales and exports thanks to a differentiated marketing strategy and launch of face-lifted models reflecting customer needs.” He further added, “We will further increase our global sales by reinforcing our export product line-up and launching refreshed models on a continuous basis.”
The Korando C kept an upward trend with sales of 5,289 vehicles, surpassing sales of more than 5,000 vehicles for two consecutive months from October 2011. The Rexton W as well as Korando Sports maintained a steady sales growth.
Domestic sales grew by 5.3 per cent in comparison to October and by 49.1 per cent as compared to November 2011. The domestic sales of the company stood at 4,404 units, surpassing 4,000 vehicle mark for three consecutive months. The company did quite well in exports as well, with a total shipment figure of 7,544 units. This was 7.4 per cent higher than October 2012, which was highest sales record in the calendar year. The exports figure was 25.4 per cent higher from the same month in 2011, which can mainly be accounted to the exports of the petrol-powered Korando C A/T model that made its debut in the overseas market last month.
