The next generation BMW 1 Series that you see in the pictures is different from the last 1 Series prototype that we covered last month.

While the latest sighting shows the test mule with blue brake callipers at the front wheels, it also gets double exhausts and a more pronounced roof spoiler. Furthermore, it is apparent that the camouflage at the lower front fascia may be concealing huge air dams. The sportier inclination of this iteration is obvious, and sources highlight that what we may be looking at, could be the M140i.

Reports also claim that the new 1 Series will be underpinned by the UKL platform. And that this model will make a departure from the rear-wheel-drive setup to a front-wheel-drive layout. On closer inspection, it is evident that the car in the photographs uses fake body panels riveted on to the body to mask the true design. But there’s no running away from the fact that the new car will be larger, and this will translate into even more cabin space.
