The Tata Nexon compact SUV will be launched for the Indian market later this year and ahead of its arrival, it has been spotted doing test rounds sans camouflage. The car snapped up in the photos is very similar to the vehicle that was unveiled at the 2016 Auto Expo as well as the one showcased at Geneva 2017.

Based on Tata’s new Impact design philosophy, the Nexon gets a forward slung design with signature elements like the Tata grille, expanding rear roof line, sporty bumpers and black applique below the Tata logo on the rear hatch.

It is a five-seater vehicle and at 3.99 metres pushes the outer limit for what is permitted in the compact segment. Standard features on this top-of-the-line model are expected to include climate control, infotainment system with floating display, steering mounted controls and seat height adjustment for the driver.

The Nexon, when launched, will be powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder diesel engine which gets mated to a six-speed manual. A petrol option is expected to be introduced at a later date and will most likely be the 1.2-litre turbocharged Revotron unit.
The compact SUV segment is growing significantly and Tata’s entry during the boom period should ensure that the Nexon will be able to hold its own against the competition. This car will be a  competitor to the likes of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra TUV300 and the Honda WR-V.
