With this launch, the auto maker is planning to widen its Indian product portfolio. This new edition happens to be a compact SUV (Sports Utility Vehicle), which is decisively based on the "Sport & Style" trim. As per industry experts, this anticipated launch by the auto company is in tandem with rising popularity and demand for utility vehicles among domestic customers.

Volkswagen realises this inherited huge market potential while being amply influenced by the soaring demand of high-end utility vehicles. As stated earlier, there is a huge demand of utility vehicles in the Indian automobile market. The Indian version is expected to get the well-known TDI (Turbocharged Direct Injection) engine fortified with common rail injection and BlueMotion Technology, in order to offer a superior performance. A high fuel efficiency and low emissions are hall marks of this powerful TDI engine. The petrol variant is likely to get the TSI engine, which is known for its high efficiency and lower emissions.
One of the prime highlights of this vehicle is its 4MOTION system. As a result of this implementation, in normal driving conditions, 90 per cent of the engine's power is delivered to Tiguan's front wheels and rest to its rear. During slips, the Haldex transmission immediately transmits power to its rear wheels for effective road grip. It is believed that this yet to be launched model will offer a unique off-road mode, which can be easily activated with a single-push button. Consequently, with this mode, driver gets a greater control while paving over more rugged grounds.
This vehicle is likely to get pepped-up exteriors and interiors, to make up for an appealing appearance. Exteriors are expected to be characterised by stylish 19-inch alloy wheels, body colour bumpers and black side skirts. Interiors are likely to be embellished with a black roof lining, elegant leather seats, multi-function leather steering wheel and gear lever knob. The price of this compact SUV is likely to be around Rs. 26 lakh; however nothing is confirmed as of now.
