Maruti Suzuki, India’s number one passenger car manufacturer, introduced its much awaited SmartPlay infotainment system on the Z+ trim of the Ciaz sedan. Taking the response it has received into consideration, Maruti Suzuki has decided to introduce this infotainment system into other models as well. A report by Autocar suggests that the firm is going to introduce this system in its Multi-utility Vehicle (MUV) Ertiga. Maruti Suzuki, after a long time, has started paying a lot of attention to the features aspect of its cars and is looking to be the best in that as well. Since competitors like Hyundai, Honda and Ford have offered a lot of features in their cars; Maruti Suzuki will be looking to do the same with its models

The SmartPlay infotainment system, after being offered in Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, will also be provided in Swift and Swift DZire in order to compete with the likes of Tata Bolt and Zest, respectively. Experts believe that since Maruti Suzuki has a number of models lined up, it will be looking to offer SmartPlay in all of them. Some of the cars that Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch in India include S-Cross, YBA compact Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) and YRA hatchback.

Notably, Maruti Suzuki will offer the SmartPlay system only in top trims of cars like it did with Ciaz. In all likelihood, all trim levels of models with the SmartPlay system will be called Z+ and shall be available in petrol as well as diesel variants.

The SmartPlay infotainment system features a 7-inch TFT display screen that is touch-friendly. It allows passengers to connect up to 10 smartphones and is compatible with USB, Bluetooth and AUX. The paired smartphone’s call log is displayed on the screen and the passenger/driver can call anyone through the available dial pad.
