Skoda India will be launching new avatar of Yeti in India in second week of September. The facelift version was shown at the 2014 Auto Expo held earlier this year. Yeti’s tweaked version underpins the same platform on which its current version is based, however the catch is that the new version will be bestowed with a rather conventional look, designed in tandem with Skoda’s new design philosophy. The outgoing version of Yeti on the other hand donned radical design. Yeti facelift is already on sale in other preeminent automotive markets including Europe, where it is available in two versions-a regular ‘City’ variant and ‘Outdoor’ variant.
The regular variant has been designed to render a more up-market and elegant look, while the ‘Outdoor’ variant is offered with body cladding and bash plates. Among other exterior changes, redesigned head lamps sporting rectangular shape and reworked front grille that looks similar to the one affixed on Octavia are included. Besides these, the vehicle gets 16 inch alloy wheels donning a new design.
It has been learnt that the India-spec model will retain the 2.0 litre diesel engine that belts out a maximum power output of 108 Bhp along with a top torque of 250 Nm, this engine will power the front-wheel-drive trim. And the all-wheel-drive trim will get the diesel motor outputting 138 Bhp and 320 Nm. Despite being a good offering in premium segment, Yeti could not make it big and hence continued to be a dud seller in domestic market. However it is being expected that the new model will be able to woo customers in India. A hypothetical price ranging between Rs 16 lakh to Rs 19 lakh is being speculated for Yeti facelift.
