Skoda is all set to launch the Rapid facelift for the Indian market tomorrow, and the revised model is expected to be better equipped to compete with rivals like the Honda City, Hyundai Verna, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz and Volkswagen’s Vento.
The facelifted Rapid will get a redesigned fascia that incorporates a new grille that looks similar to the Octavia. There’s also new head lamps, a restyled front bumper and new internals for the tail lamps. While the basic layout of the cabin should remain unchanged, the Rapid is anticipated to get new features like a touchscreen infotainment system with MirrorLink, navigation and a reverse camera, to name a few.
Power will come from the same engines and transmissions that do duty in the current car, but the Skoda Rapid facelift will probably get these in a better state of tune to improve performance and efficiency. There’s also talk of the 1.5-litre diesel motor to get the same power as the VW Ameo, so one can expect an increase from 105bhp to 110bhp with identical torque figures.
