Skoda has already made plans to invest Rs 3500 crores in India. It is also planning to increase its manufacturing capacity at its Chakan plant in Pune. It intends to mark its strong presence in the luxury D-segment of India. This market is currently dominated strongly by Mercedes followed by BMW and Audi.

Skoda shall be launching the Skoda New Superb next year in India. It would be the successor to its current model Skoda Superb. Thomas Kuehl, member of Board of Directors of Skoda stated that they shall be launching the New Superb in Europe in October this year. The Indian model shall have several USPs which would enable Skoda to mark its strong presence in the D-segment in India. It shall be available both as petrol and diesel versions in India.
The New Superb shall be placed in similar price band as current Skoda Superb which is priced at Rs. 19.89 lakh. Skoda already marks a strong presence in B and C segment with Skoda Fabia as its hatch-back model and Octavia as its luxury sedan.
