Skoda Auto India, the Volkswagen-owned Czech auto maker, has introduced a special edition Rapid Leisure model in the domestic auto market. The new Rapid sedan, which has been offered with a price tag of Rs. 7.79 lakh (ex-showroom, New Delhi), features special decals as well as badging, and an array of additional features. Industry experts are of a view that the launch of a new model in Rapid series will facilitate the auto maker in luring the attention of Indian buyers.
The key highlights of Rapid Leisure include portable navigation system, rear view camera, parking sensors at rear, 15-inch alloy wheels, door sill covers and leatherette upholstery. However, it must be noted that the special edition model of Rapid sedan will be put to sale all across the country for a limited time only. Speaking on the technical figures of the model, Skoda Auto has offered the option of both petrol and diesel engines with automatic as well as manual transmission systems. The 1.6 petrol engine, offered in both automatic and manual gearbox, has the potential to belt out a maximum power of 103 bhp at 5250 rpm, with an alarming torque of 220 Nm.
On the other hand, the diesel engine of Special Edition Rapid Leisure churns out a maximum power of 103 bhp at 4400 rpm and a highest torque of 250 Nm at 1500-2500 rpm. In order to represent the brand value of Skoda India, new Rapid happens to be a perfect blend of refined engineering and dynamic handling. Coming to the pricing of the special edition model, the 1.6 litre petrol engine variant with manual transmission system has been offered for Rs. 7,79,352, whereas its automatic version is sold for Rs. 8,79,625. The diesel engine guise, available with only manual gearbox, has been tagged with a price of Rs. 9,06,926.
