Skoda's bestseller in the local market has comeback again with new and improved performance statistics. Reliability and quality has been synonymous with the 'Octavia' sedan category model from Skoda. The 2.0 litre engine has been refined to the core and has outperformed its close competitor the Hyundai Elantra. The 1.8 litre turbo petrol is refined and is the best amongst the Octavia line-up.

Design for the fresh line-up has definitely been worked upon by the Skoda's designing team. The first ones to feature new designs have been implemented in the Octavia model. Smooth contours and crisp styling makes it stand out from the current lot of sedans. The all new 1.8 Skoda Octavia is powered by 1,798 cc engine that is capable of delivering peak power at 177 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. An efficient 7-speed dual-clutch transmission transmits adequate power to its front wheel drive system.

The flamboyant designs from the Skoda designing team has been saved for vRS version. But you need not wait for the vRS model to experience an enthralling performance, the new Octavia is very much efficient in clocking a 100 kmph on the speedometer in just 8.1 seconds, this is something which most sedans would shy away from! It is impressive to see that such performance comes with a style statement.

Similar to most modern-day dual-clutch transmission cars, the Skoda Octavia also features three options namely – Sport, Drive and Manual. The Sport mode keeps the game alive and exiting, while the Drive mode delivers better fuel efficiency, but this comes with a sedated drive feel. Switch to the manual mode to unleash the engine's true potential. A little turbo lag is present but that maybe forgiven once you cross the 2000 rpm mark. What comes next is a true dose of adrenaline rush right up to the 6000 rpm mark, till you shift again to feel your heart skip a beat.

The car gives a grounded feel and handles sharp curves with precision. It is also worth noting that the car clocked an amazing 215 km/hr with minimum noise and superb handling. It is also worth mentioning that the Skoda Octavia 1.8 TSI returned a fairly decent 9.7 kmpl within city and 14 kmpl on the highway. Great handling, superior performance, efficiency and comfort are some of the terms that may be used to classify this fresh lot from Skoda. Rest assured, this is one of the best cars put up for offering from the brand in recent times and shall surely give tough competition to others in this segment.
