Midsize Skoda saloon whose official name was behind the smoke, has now been evacuated out in the clear with the fact, that the vehicle that's going to hit the Indian car market is the Skoda Lauretta. Earlier, there were perplexions regarding the sedan name being Rapid or Lauretta. The news has been confirmed by the Editor of Autocar India Magazine Hormazd Sorabjee through tweet. So this Diwali, the celebrations are ought to be doubled, with Skoda Lauretta launching in October, which is considered to a big release of this year.
By the upcoming Skoda sedan, Skoda India is geared up to turn the box of C+segment cars upside down, popping out Skoda Lauretta. The design of Skoda Lauretta is inspired by that of the fabulous Skoda Fabia and its irresistible Volkswagen Vento. Lauretta will also have refections of the latest Skoda design concept revealed at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show.
It is believed that Skoda Lauretta sedan will be available in both petrol and diesel engines. The new 2011 Skoda Lauretta C+ segment sedan will be affixed to an engine with strengths and capabilities of that of the Volkswagen Vento engine. This conveys the fact that the saloon will be backed with the powers of a 1.6-litre 105 bhp petrol engine and a 1.6-litre 105 bhp diesel engine, which is offering a five-speed manual transmission to its users. Petrol engine will bring a displacement of 1598cc, 4 Cylinder, 8 Valve configuration and 153 Nm of torque. Diesel engine will be the same with 1598cc, 4 Cylinder, 8 Valve being affixed. It brings in a difference with a 250 Nm torque. The working relation between Skoda and Volkswagen, being in close proximity makes one believe that the new 2011 Skoda Lauretta C+ segment sedan could be tagged with a lower price than that of Volkswagen Vento. The new midsized sedan is expected to arrive with at least six variants.
Talking about the accessories of the sedan, it has a lot in store. Features like a tachometer, 2 trip meters and ORVM indicator makes it a more favourable choice. Skoda Lauretta also consists of a fog lamp, in addition. The control and handling of the sedan speaks volume for itself. The power steering in the car work wonders, to make it a complete package. The new midsized sedan is expected to carry a price tag between the range of 7 lac to 9 lac. Thus, Skoda India is aiming to lighten up the market this Diwali, with its new production ready to take-off.
