Skoda, the Czech automobile giant, will be launching the New Skoda Laura RS in the fourth week of August. The company has launched this car to set a benchmark for its other models to be launched in the coming years. The engineering specifications of the Laura RS are expected to be similar to the previously launched Octavia RS. Presently, the Octavia RS is available in the liftback and Wagon models in the international market. Besides, the Laura RS was first seen in Mumbai in the year 2009 at a performance show. It was then displayed after one year at the Auto Expo 2010, New Delhi.
The Skoda Laura RS is expected to have a 1.8 Litre diesel engine, which would generate 160 bhp and 250 nm torque. This model reaches speed of 250 kmph, which is mainly due to its 6 speed MT engine. Skoda India is not the only company that will be launching the sports version of its existing Sedan. The other companies which have already launched the sports variant of their existing models are Honda, Maruti Suzuki, Ford and Mitsubishi. The Honda Civic and the Ford Fiesta 1.6S are the examples of the sports versions launched in India.
The Skoda Laura RS will have a sporty exterior with RS body kits. The model is said to have an aerodynamic spoiler, which would help the car to stop the unfavorable winds to affect the speed of the car. The sporty chrome tipped double exhaust will also be incorporated in this car for enhancing the performance of the car.
Other features of this model are the xenon headlights, which would have dynamic control over its various angles. This model is also available with the LED daytime running lights and the fog lights, which will definitely add on to the 'rally sport' specific features of this car. The Laura RS is also going to have the 'Alcantara leather seats' which would have a lateral support and a RS symbol on it. Furthermore, the interiors of the model will include the race-bred alloy pedals on the foot, along with grey-coloured floor mats.
Skoda Laura RS, being specifically designed to cater to the sports car enthusiasts in India has all the features of a rally sports car. The car has numerous safety features, such as the two airbags for the front seats. The anti lock brake system, the electronic brake distributor and the electronic power steering are the state of the art technology that this car boasts. These features of the model not only set the benchmark for the upcoming models of Skoda India, but also for various other companies.
