Skoda has surpassed the mark of one million vehicles delivered in 2016. This time around, the brand reached the milestone approximately one month earlier than 2015, and has delivered a seven-digit number of vehicles for the third year in a row.
As some may have expected, the Superb made a considerable contribution to this success. From January to now, almost 1.15 lakh units of the luxury sedan have rolled off the production line – an increase of 85.2 per cent compared to the previous year.
As for the smaller Fabia and the Rapid, Skoda has revealed that deliveries of these models have increased by 6.7 per cent and 7 per cent respectively. Lastly, the heart of the brand, the Octavia stood at 3.61 lakh units from January to October.
Skoda, as we know, will be launching its first large SUV – the Kodiaq, globally next year. The new model will open up new customer base for the brand. Bookings have already begun for the Kodiaq, which will be heading to the first customers in February 2017. The vehicle of course is India-bound as well and will be positioned around the Superb as the brand’s flagship model.
