Skoda Fabia Production Begins in Pune

Volkswagen has beganproduction of Skoda Fabia from its Chakan plant near Pune. The first production began on the India’s Independence Day. President And Managing Director Of Volkswagen India Private Limited, Joerg Mueller, started the celebrations by planting a sapling at the plant. "On the occasion of this Independence Day, the planting of saplings and watering them with the recycled water from our production facility is our symbolic contribution for a cleaner, greener and healthier environment," addressed Mueller to the gathering of board member and plant employees.

Volkswagen brand is relatively new to the Indian customers as they have recently set up shop in India. Currently Volkswagen sells Jetta and Passat in India. Skoda Auto is VW Group Company that sells Skoda Octavia, Laura and Fabia in India. Fabia was launched nearly a year back in the Indian auto market and has been quite successful. With the new plant and more localization of components, Indian customers can now expect a further price slash for the model.
