Ahead of the official launch of the Skoda Rapid Edition X, dealerships have started giving out prices of the special edition. This is same as the Monte Carlo edition and starts at Rs 10.2 lakhs (ex-showroom Mumbai).
Skoda dealers have revealed these festive prices, which are expected to change soon. The ex-showroom prices of the petrol manual Edition X and the automatic are Rs 10.2 lakhs and Rs 11.74 lakhs respectively. Similarly, the diesel versions are priced at Rs 12.24 lakhs for the manual and Rs 13.24 lakhs for the automatic.
The cosmetic changes and features in the cabin of the Skoda Rapid Edition X are same as the Monte Carlo. The name had to be changed due to a trademark infringement case. Otherwise, all the black-painted bits like the grille, ORVMs, rear diffuser and lip-spoiler on the tailgate remain the same. The sedan rides on black-painted 16-inch machined alloy wheels. The interior features Onyx Alcantara leather, an aluminum finish for the scuff plates, faux carbon fibre trim and a flat bottom steering wheel. The black seat upholstery gets contrasting red stitching, which can be seen on the steering wheel and gear lever cover as well.
The Skoda Rapid Edition X gets the powertrain options from the regular sedan. This means, one has the choices between a 1.6-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine and a 1.5-litre turbo diesel motor. The petrol mill delivers 103bhp of power, while the oil-burner churns out 108bhp of power. Both these engines come mated to a five-speed manual transmission as standard. However, one can also opt for a petrol mated to a six-speed torque converter automatic, while the diesel model can be had with a seven-speed DSG.
Skoda is expected to reveal the pan-India prices soon. The bookings for the Rapid Edition X have already begun and deliveries at select dealerships will begin soon.
