Skoda has announced that it is adding more SUVs in its official lineup and has said that there will be four models which be launched within the next two years.  Initially, these vehicles will be offered only for the Chinese market. However, given the global appeal of SUVs, it only seems obvious that these vehicles will find their way to other market around the world.

The four new vehicles will be the next-generation Yeti, Skoda Kodiaq coupe SUV, the Kodiaq itself and most probably a rebadged T-ROC concept. Each of these vehicles will be crucial for Skoda’s plans to gain volumes from SUVs and even falls in line with parent company Volkswagen’s plans to have an SUV in every part of the market.

The Yeti has been around for a while now and this will be the most major update for the compact SUV. It will move from the traditional boxy design to a Kodiaq(esque) crossover shape. Coupe SUVs have become quite popular and it only seemed logical that Skoda get in on the act with a high riding-low roof version of the Kodiaq.

Wanting to venture into the global B-segment, VW had announced a Golf based SUV which in concept form was called the TROC. Skoda too is likely to produce a version of this vehicle. While this is a bit speculative we can be sure that it will be named after a bear!

Finally, there is the Kodiaq SUV. It’s the new mid-size vehicle from the Czech automaker and was revealed in late 2016. It will be locally produced for the Chinese market and be offered with a range of petrol engines.

Of this lot we will get the new Yeti, the Kodiaq as well as the Kodiaq coupe and from this trio we are certain that Skoda will locally assemble the Yeti and the Kodiaq for sure. The latter will make its Indian debut later this year while the Yeti is expected to have 2018 arrival.
