539 Skoda Octavias recalled to fix suspected faulty child lock

Skoda has issued a voluntary recall for the Octavia in India. 539 units of this executive sedan will be checked for a faulty child lock as a part of this recall.

Sedans produced between November last year and April this year are suspected to have this fault. Skoda will call these owners through dealers and request them to visit their workshop soon. The technicians at the service station will check the manual child lock of both the rear doors of the car. If they find a fault, they will replace it for free.

The company is promising that the assessment of these locks will happen in 12 minutes and the process of replacing the lock will take 45 minutes. Customers won't be charged for this at all. Skoda dealers are contacting Octavia owners across the country to make the necessary checks and replacements. It is a good measure to get this check done as it might cause some safety concerns for owners who might seat their kids in the back seat.
