      SEW-EURODRIVE expands India Operations

      Sets up a new 80,000 sq. ft state of the art assembly plant in Chennai.

      Expands Vadodara plant by another 40,000 sq. ft.

      The first ‘Green Building’ in the drive industry.

      Mumbai, India — February 10, 2008 — SEW-EURODRIVE India Private Limited, a world leader in the Drive Engineering and Drive Automation Technology business, today inaugurated their 80,000 sq ft world-class, state-of-the-art assembly plant, spread across 4 acres of land at Sriperumbudur in Chennai. The new assembly plant is the first ‘Green’ plant in the Indian Drive Industry.

      The inauguration ceremony was commemorated by Mr. Rainer Blickle, President and Managing Partner, SEW Group and Mr. Hans Sondermann, Managing Director - Global Sales & Marketing along with Mr. M J Abraham, Chief Executive Officer, SEW-EURODRIVE India.

      “Reliability, productivity and energy efficiency are going to be increasingly important themes for Indian industry and we foresee growing demand for the solutions we deliver on these themes through our products and services. Our strong growth over the last few years left us short on capacity and we have responded by doubling at our existing location in Vadodara as well as setting up this new assembly plant in Chennai.” M J Abraham stated. He also added, “A plant each in our key Western and Southern markets with full service capability for our Geared-motor, Frequency Inverter and Industrial Gearbox product lines, allied with our direct sales and service network covering 16 cities gives us the capability to address our customer needs locally and effectively”.
