On Feb 6, 2012, Goparaju, a self-professed astrologer, and his two associates stole the Honda Civic of a Tollywood producer who owed them Rs. 5 lacs. The three men forced the movie producer and his wife from the car at Begumpet and went off with the sedan. However, the astrologer failed to predict his own future as the police arrested him a short while later.
According to Inspector Y Narsimha Reddy, Shashi Kumar, the producer, was driving his Civic (AP 03 AB 0006) near Shoppers' Stop in Begumpet when he was stopped by the accused. He lives in Jubilee Hills and is known for producing 'Nenunnanu', a Telugu film featuring Nagarjuna in 2004, as well as for financing a few movies.
