Ford had recently put up details regarding the face-lifted version of the Fiesta sedan on its website. The first glimpse of face-lifted version of the Fiesta sedan was seen at the February held Auto Expo 2014 event. Ford Asia Pacific President David Schoch was heard at the Auto Expo2014 event as saying, “As we prepare to launch 23 models globally in 2014 - the most in more than a century - we see huge potential in India, both as a market and as center of excellence of manufacturing. We are building the factories of future in India and across Asia Pacific region to set the stage for turbo charged growth in coming years.” The freshest of the Verna lot from Hyundai named as 'Verna GL' imbibes the Fluidic design philosophy that makes this sedan a pure charmer and distinctive. With the launch of the new version, the company has discontinued six of Verna’s variants which include three petrol and three diesel trims.
The newly introduced Hyundai Verna GL is powered by a 1.4 litre VTVT motor that generates a max power output of about 105 Bhp with a top torque of about 138 Nm. Whereas, the Diesel variant gets a 1.4 litre CRDI power-train that produces a maximum power of about 89 Bhp with 224 Nm of peak torque. The engine in the Petrol as well as the Diesel variants is mated to a five speed manual gearbox and six speed transmission respectively.
The GL variant of Verna is loaded with standard features like keyless entry, a 2 Din Audio system, electric power-steering with tilt function, electrically adjustable outside rear view mirror, and manual air conditioner. The GL trim has been introduced as a replacement to the basic 1.4 litre Petrol and Diesel variants of Verna. The Petrol version of Verna GL variant is priced at Rs 7.17 lakh, whereas the diesel version is tagged at Rs 8.35 lakh (ex-showroom price).
Primarily, the new Ford Fiesta has only received some interesting cosmetic upgrades this time around. The sedan has retained the existing 1.5 Litre petrol engine that generates a decent 108 Ps of power, whereas the diesel version generates about 90 Ps of power. The petrol engine has been mated to 5 speed manual transmission and 6 speed automatic transmission. For now, the diesel version shall only be mated to a 5 speed manual transmission.
Interior dimensions for both the variants have largely remain unchanged in the new Ford Fiesta sedan. The interior sports two tone shades and new seat fabric that enhances the overall ride quality for its occupants. Applink sync connectivity system has been used in this fresh lot. This allows drivers to use voice commands to play their favorite music, controlling mobile application and making phone calls. Moreover, Ice Blue lighting on the switches, dials and displays gives it a distinctive appeal. The exact pricing for the Fiesta sedan may be revealed at a later date and is expected to be known post release sometime soon in the Indian market.
