Sebastian Vettel, the reigning FIA Formula One World Champion, pulled off fourth successive pole finish, his fifth in the ongoing season at the 2012 Formula One Airtel Indian Grand Prix in Greater Noida on October 28, 2012.

The 25-year-old German and youngest Champion in the sport's history, Vettel has now won four successive F1 races in a season for the first time in his career. Interestingly, it was also the first time, since Brazilian racing great Ayrton Senna, that a F1 driver led every lap for three races in a row.

Expressing his delight after winning the race, Vettel said, "All in all, it was a very good race for us and I’m happy with the result. I had a good start, Mark had a better one and it was close in Turn One, but I had a good exit from Turn Three and got ahead. I was able to open a gap, which was important. I felt very good on the soft tyres and was competitive, I could have stayed out even longer I think, but at some stage you have to cover. McLaren and Ferrari were quick on the hard tyre today, so it was important to have a gap to them. I saw some sparks at the end from the car, but we saw a lot of cars throwing sparks this weekend, and we joined them. It was a great day for us and an important step."

The star of F1 team Red Bull Racing, Vettel steered 13 points clear off his closest rival Ferrari's Fernando Alonso who finished the race at second position. Vettel's Red Bull team mate, Mark Webber rounded off the podium and pushed McLaren's Lewis Hamilton to fifth spot and now stands at fourth position on the Formula One Driver Standings. Post Indian GP, Vettel sits on top with 240 points ahead of Alonso trailing with 227 points.

Mercedes driver and living F1 racing legend, Michael Schumacher's last race in India was plagued by misfortunes from the start. The seven time World Champion suffered right rear tyre puncture and retired after fifth lap of the race.

Sahara Force India Formula One team, the sole Indian representative at Championship, managed below average results at the 2012 Indian F1 Grand Prix held in Buddh International Circuit (BIC), Greater Noida. Sahara Force India's German driver, Nico Hulkenberg finished at eighth position behind Kimi Raikkonen of team Lotus and ahead of Roman Grosjean, team Lotus.

Commenting on his team's enthusiastic display, Team Principal and Managing Director (MD), Dr. Vijay Mallya, said, "I’m delighted to see Sahara Force India score points at our home race - for the second year in a row. After qualifying we knew we had a big task ahead of us, but Nico rose to the challenge and raced well to finish in eighth place. It’s a very satisfying result and it means we have scored points in the last six races - that’s every race since the summer break. These are important points for our fight in the constructors’ championship and we will continue to push very hard in the remaining three races. Paul also battled hard in the race, moving up four places, but it was difficult for him to challenge for points in the end. Overall it’s been another great Indian Grand Prix. The circuit is a magnificent venue for motor racing and the Buddh International Circuit has once again delivered a fantastic event which we have all enjoyed immensely."
