      Schaeffler develops a concept model for Indian buyers

      Schaeffler, a renowned auto component maker, has showcased a concept car, which has been exclusively designed for the Indian auto market. According to company, the model will deliver an enhanced fuel economy, facilitating it to strike right chords with the sentiments of Indian buyers. Reportedly, the auto company has incorporated an advanced engine in an existing B-segment model, Maruti Suzuki Swift, which according to Schaeffler, will come as a more fuel efficient by around 10 per cent.

      Titled as the Efficient Future Mobility India vehicle, this model was exhibited in Pune at a ceremony called ‘Innovation Days’, which happens to be a flagship platform for sharing and developing innovative technologies. The auto company confirmed that it has tested this technology in Germany and will now incorporate it in a range of cars in the country.

      The Managing Director and Chief Operating Officer of Schaeffler India, Dharmesh Arora was quoted as saying, “We are also developing new concepts and technologies for the two-wheeler and commercial vehicle segment. Our recent innovations include low-friction bearings and new range of clutches for motorcycles in India.”

      Prior to the development of this technology, Schaeffler was engaged in providing plain bearing and rolling bearing services for linear and direct drive technology. Along with this, the company was also working as a distributor of precision products with supplying of engines, transmissions and chassis components to different auto makers of the Indian auto market.

      He further added, “The Efficient Future Mobility India car is the result of Schaeffler’s intensive research and development towards optimizing drive train performance according to peculiarities of driving conditions, patterns and behaviour as well as customer preferences in India. This car reflects Schaeffler’s vision for the future of drive train in emerging markets.”

      According to sources, the Efficient Future Mobility India vehicle is incorporated with electronic clutch management system, which made it possible to link a start/stop system to the model’s manually controlled transmission system. This move will assist the auto maker in increasing the fuel efficiency of the model by switching off the powertrain when the car is standstill.
