Honda Cars India Limited, the domestic division of Japanese auto maker, reported a growth of 72.47 per cent in the month of August 2013 with total sales of 9,469 units, under the review of 5,490 units delivered in the corresponding period last year. During the period, the auto maker registered an increase of 63 per cent in its domestic sales with figures standing at 8,913 units against 5,470 units sold in August 2012.

Expressing his views at the sales performance, the Senior Vice President (Marketing and Sales) for Honda Cars India Limited, Jnaneswar Sen was quoted as saying, “HCIL overall sales volume during August 2013 was quite robust. With the onset of festival season in West and South India, we have tried to maximize the production of Honda Amaze during August to be able to speed up the deliveries.”

In the month of August 2013, the auto maker delivered 953 units of its flagship sedan City and 1,508 units of Brio hatchback. Along with, 62 units of premium sedan Accord were also sold during the month. Highlighting the sales figures of company's first diesel engine compact sedan Amaze, 6,242 new buyers were found in the Indian auto market during August 2013. In the Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) segment, the company sold 148 units of CR-V during the month. Along with decent sales figures, the auto maker managed to export a total of 556 units from its Indian production units to other parts of the world in August 2013.

Industry experts are of a view that the Indian auto market is currently going through not so good times with fall in demand for the overall industry in the past nine months. Amid dwindling conditions, reporting a growth of 72 per cent seems to be quite impressive for the Japanese auto market, who has launched a number of car models in the recent past.
