      Rs 20 lakh Jeep spotted on test - India-bound

      Jeep is looking at introducing a new product that will be manufactured in Fiat India’s Ranjangaon facility and this new SUV will be priced at about Rs 15-20 lakhs. The new-generation Jeep will made in India and shall be exported to European markets as well. Jeep has a plan to manufacture it in India and make the Ranjangaon plant of the company as its new export hub.

      This will mean that Jeeps for the Indian car market will be a lot more affordable. The C-segment SUV will be powered by a 2.0-litre diesel engine and will come with a six-speed manual and also an automatic transmission.

      As per a report, Fiat has increased its manpower from 30 to 700 in the company’s Ranjangaon facility. Fiat is also looking at increasing its plant size and is constructing a lot more buildings as well. The report even states that the company is looking at increasing its manpower and at the same time even adding more engines to its Indian manufacturing portfolio. At the moment, Fiat only makes the 1.2-litre and 1.4-litre petrol engines and the diesel is the 1.3-litre as of now.
