The sales of luxury car Rolls-Royce Phantom model has more than doubled in the last year in Abu Dhabi. It was only last year that the car maker opened its largest showroom, Abu Dhabi Motors, in the Middle East region.

Alaa Tarabay, spokesperson for Rolls-Royce said, "Growth in the UAE was tremendous." He further said, "The UAE is our biggest market in the region in terms of sales." However, he refused to share any figures regarding the sales in the region. He only informed that the sales of the model has gone up 214 per cent by the end of November as compared to the same period lat year. Expanding its reach, the company is planning to set up a new showroom in Sharjah as well as a service centre in Al Ain.

The vehicle’s price starts from Dh1.7 million (US$462,824), but the buyers are ready to spend more for customised options. Some popular choices available for the customers are picnic hampers in the boot, a cigar humidor in the glove box and built-in fridge in the centre console.

Last year in UAE, the demand for Rolls-Royce's Phantom was so high that buyers had to wait for the car. Subsequently, the car manufacturer had to bring additional models to meet the demand. On the contrary, the company was expecting a drop in sales of its Phantom model with the introduction of Ghost model in 2010.

Kadhim Al Helli, Rolls-Royce's brand manager for Abu Dhabi Motors said. "This, however, has not been the case, as both models have increased in sales year-on-year." He further informed that "This success has been strongly linked to our bespoke specifications, which make almost every car unique and different in its own way."
