After registering a 600% growth to 80 units in the Indian market last year, luxury car maker Rolls Royce is now aiming to sell more than 100 cars in the country in year 2011. India is currently the second fastest growing market for Rolls Royce after China where the company sold 600 units of its cars in calendar year 2010.

In a recent statement, Rolls Royce CEO Torsten Muller-Otvos said, “India is very important to us...we look forward to a tremendous future for us here.”

At present, Rolls Royce sells two car models in the Indian market including Phantom and Ghost with a starting price of Rs 2.5 crore and 3.5 crore, respectively.

Moreover, the company is also planning to enhance its sales network to 4 dealers from existing 2 dealers. Currently, Rolls Royce has its dealerships in Delhi and Mumbai and plans to open two more in Punjab and Hyderabad in coming months.

While further elaborating company’s India strategy, Mr. Muller said, “But we are not a sales volume driven company so we don’t build cars on stock. We build cars only when customers come to us. 4-6 months is the time it takes between a customer placing his order and delivery of our cars.”
