      Rent a bike facility kicks off in Pune

      Until now, it was only in Goa where you could hire a bike on rent and explore the popular holiday destination. This time around a company named 'Snap Bikes' a venture of 'Elite Celebrations' is now offering two wheelers on rent. The facility has reportedly been approved by the State Transport Authority (STA) and the Regional Transport Office (RTO). For now, only 10 bikes have been made available whereas another 100 is due to arrive soon.

      Interested customers looking to hire two-wheeler can choose from motorcycles, gearless bikes as well as high end premium two wheelers. The vehicles would be rented a price ranging between Rs. 399 to Rs. 1,000 depending on the vehicle category. Every vehicle gets a GPS device to track its movement and the rider as well as the pillion gets a helmet. Speaking more on the occasion Ashish Ingale, business development officer of Snap bikes, said, "We have been trying to get a license from the transport authority for the last couple of years. Our plan had to go through various checks. Pune is probably the first city in the state to offer bikes on rent. We plan to expand to other places in the near future."

      Repair and maintenance aspect shall be looked after by separate teams. The company has also been reportedly working on roadside assistance facility. Jitendra Patil from the RTO said, “All bikes run on petrol and have been registered in the transport category. The STA has issued a license. They have black number plates and registration number written in yellow. We have asked the agency to maintain a daily log book and produce it for inspection when required. The vehicles will undergo regular fitness tests."
