Renault India has already made a strong statement with the launch of KWID, a micro hatch seeking inspiration from an SUV. The brand had also seen dominance in the compact SUV segment with the Duster but unfortunately, with the advent of many players, Renault lost the game.

But now in what appears to be a new development, Renault will soon enter the utility vehicle space in India which will help the French car maker pick up a direct fight against India’s popular UV maker, Mahindra and Mahindra. The brand already has products like the Renault Master, Trafic and Kangoo Express. It is still not clear as to which one will be made to launch in India.

Importantly, the brand will also slot an all new SUV based on the Logan M0-B platform to compete against the like of Mahindra XUV500. This will be the second time for Renault to aim against the Indian SUV brand as the first instance happened with the Duster pitched against the Duster. While the larger SUV will be an iteration of the Captur, the Duster will see a generation change in 2018.

There are also plans to launch an SUV and MPV on the CMF-A platform and price it in the range of Rs 5 lakhs to Rs 10 lakhs in India.
