Renault has launched the Symbol sedan across a handful of Gulf countries. This car is available across three variants and six colour options.  It is a C-segment sedan and is expected to replace the Scala within the next three years in the French automaker’s Indian lineup. We had spotted the car ahead of its official debut and the pictures gave us a comprehensive idea of the updates.

On the outside, the Symbol gets the latest Renault face, wheels and tail lamp design. The cabin is quite similar to what is available in the India spec Duster. The top-of-the- line  version has climate control, touchscreen infotainment system with reverse camera and steering mounted audio controls.

Powering this Gulf spec car is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder mill that produces 102bhp/145Nm with power going to the front wheels via a four-speed AT. The Middle East (across most countries) gets the car in three variants and nine colour options.

This vehicle is essentially a Renault-badged version of the Dacia Logan. It is one of the cars that Renault is expected to bring to India within the next three years. Here, it will likely be offered with the 1.6-litre petrol as well as the 1.5-litre K9K diesel. Gearbox options are expected to include a six-speed manual and a six-speed AMT option as well.

With consumer preferences moving towards higher segments, the Symbol will be an important car for the automaker in terms of numbers. It will represent the automaker in this part of the market along with the Duster.
